Making Your Passion Your Reality!
Programs can be fully virtual, in-person, or hybrid.

The Institute of Counseling and Psychoanalytic Studies (ICPS), formerly BGSP-NJ, offers a unique perspective on the needs of mental health professionals. With a faculty of 100% clinician educators it is considered a model of local, community-based, higher education. We are committed to furthering mental health in a diversely populated area, as well as providing connections for graduates seeking employment.

We invite you to discover the ICPS community, where work/life balance is considered essential for success.

ICPS is part of the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, which is accredited by the New England Commission on Higher Education (NECHE). The ICPS curriculum is accepted by the New Jersey Professional Counselor Examiners Committee as well. During COVID-19 all programs and courses are offered virtually.

The only accredited, independent graduate school of psychoanalysis in the country, the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis has been opening doors to psychoanalysis for over 40 years, increasing access to psychoanalytic training, education, and treatment.

The program at the New Jersey branch advances this mission by introducing students from the vibrant and diverse New Jersey/tri-state community to studies in professional counseling and psychoanalysis without requiring them to acquire prior training in another profession.

Students gain a deeper understanding of people in their full complexity through ICPS integrative approach to learning. They learn how people develop their emotional and mental lives, how people operate from motivations outside their own awareness, and why people interact and behave in characteristic ways.

ICPS has a
95% graduation rate, and a near

100% job acceptance rate within a short time after graduation.
